The first thing to consider when choosing kitchen floor is that it is durable, resistant and easy to maintain.
Vinyl: economic and durable
Two materials that are very resistant are vinyl and laminate. Both resist staining, are cleaned easily and are perfect if you have children or pets. However, these materials do not bear the heat too well, vinyl just peeling and laminate can bulge if it is too long in contact with the water. These are factors to consider depending on the climate of where you live.
Both can be found in a wide range of colors and are, probably, two of the floors for the kitchen more economic.
Stone and ceramic
The stone is very durable and resistant to heat, however, need to be polished often and this in turn poses a risk for being cold and slippery.
The ceramic, meanwhile, is one of the most used for the floor of the kitchen and the bathroom, due to its ease of cleaning and high resistance materials.
Other materials often used for kitchen floors are wood and linoleum. The first is not the best option if you have children or pets, also requires a special coating to prevent staining. Wood floors also are very resistant to heat. Moreover, the linoleum is less durable, but has higher resistance to stains.
In some countries like the UK is very common to cover the floor throughout the house with carpet, including the kitchen. The problem with this material is that it can not completely clean, so subtract level of hygiene to our kitchen.
